The Institution of Freemasonry in Mumbai, established for more than two centuries now, has been founded on the solid bedrock laid by our Founding Fathers.
The District Grand Lodge of India ( Scottish Constitution ) has taken the initiative to conduct an annual Memorial Lecture recognising the immense contribution of leading families that have built what we are today.
The Memorial Lecture is scheduled to be held as under:
- Date : Saturday, Aug 10th
- Time: 5.45 pm for 6 pm
- Venue: Sandhurst Temple, Freemasons' Hall, Opp Sterling Cinema ( parking is usually not an issue )

Program:
- 6 pm to 7 pm - Introduction to Freemasonry and tour of the Sandhurst Temple
- 7 pm to 8pm - Welcome address by Mr Kersi Limathwalla followed by Lecture by Ms Susan Snell
- 8 pm Onwards - Contributory dinner ( Rs 1200/- per person )

About the Speaker - Ms Susan Snell - BA DA MAA RMARA: Susan is a professional archivist and records manager and has been associated with the Museum of Freemasonry, under the United Grand Lodge of England since 2005. She has keen interest in helping researcher establish connections between their families and Freemasonry. Of special interest to her is the rich history of the Parsi ( Zoroastrian ) families in both India and England and their connections with Freemasonry. She has published several articles on various topics in peer reviewed journals.
About Mr Kersi Limathwalla: Kersi is a Chartered Accountant, who is in his fiftieth year of Freemasonry. He is associated with several leading trusts and organisations. With immense depth of knowledge he leads the District Grand Lodge of India ( Scottish Constitution ) as its District Grand Master
About Freemasonry:
Freemasonry is the world's oldest Fraternity with a continuous recorded history of more than 300 years and anecdotal history of more than 600 years. Taking origins from the stonemaasons, and tracing its roots to Biblical times, it aims to make each one 'practice every moral and social virtue. In Mumbai the earliest Freemason Lodges have been meeting for more than 250 years and Freemasons' Hall ( opp Sterling Cinema, the venue for this lecture meeting ) is a purpose built Grade II heritage building of 127 years vintage.
Access to the premises is generally restricted to Freemasons, but this Memorial Lecture will provide a not-so-often opportunity to visit the Temple and for benefit of non Masons, a guided tour of the Temple and its significance has also been arranged.
